The Hmedia RESTful API for iNEWS is build on top of the Hmedia API for iNEWS. It allows client programs on the same server or other machines in the network to connect to iNEWS using RESTful Web Services.

Since the RESTful API is build on top of the HMedia API for iNEWS it has the same features as described for the Hmedia API for iNEWS. It adds these features (most of them common to web services):

• HTTP Communication between the API and the clients passes most firewalls
• Messages are exchanged in XML. The message protocol is available in XSD format
• Clients can be written in any programming language (or just take a web browser to see the Hmedia RESTful API for iNEWS in action)
